Huntington Beach Real Estate - Why Your

Family Will Love This Southern California City

Located along the West Coast, just off the shore line of the Pacific Ocean sits the beautiful community of Huntington Beach. This Orange County city is home to over 189,000 residents, making it the most populated beach city in the area. Trademarked as Surf City USA, the community is the perfect place to raise a family or retire to.

Boasting a Mediterranean climate, temperatures year round are fairly mild with mostly sunny, dry and cooler conditions depending on the time of year. Contrary to what many tourists to the area think, conditions tend to be more comfortable over hot, as many assume the West Coast can be. Daytime summer averages usually range between the high 60s and low 70s, with temperatures rarely surpassing the 85 degree mark. Winter months welcome slightly cooler temperatures with highs averaging in the low 60s.

The area provides easy access to both the greater Los Angeles area, as well as Long Beach. In fact, Los Angeles is only 40 miles north of the community. With 8.5 miles of sandy beaches running along the outer edge of the city, Huntington Beach has been well recognized as being home to the longest stretch of beach along the West Coast. One of the most popular draws to the area, besides the Southern California beach culture, is the popular sport of surfing. Home to the world surf championships each year, the community attracts approximately 11 million tourists who visit for a variety of reasons, including spectator sports such as the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, the Surf City USA Marathon and the US Open of Surfing.

Huntington Beach real estate varies considerably in price depending on the area investors are searching in. Although there are numerous neighborhoods around the city, four distinct areas are popular with home buyers, which include downtown Huntington Beach, Huntington Seacliff, Huntington Harbour and Edwards Hills. Out of the four, the downtown core offers the most affordable prices, with condominiums starting in the $300s. This area provides easy access to local beaches and piers. Larger detached estate properties make up the area of Huntington Harbour, with many boasting ocean front property. On average homes in the city range from $250,000 to well over the multimillion dollar mark.

Incorporated back in 1909, Huntington Beach was essentially an agricultural area with local producers growing crops of celery and sugar beets. It wasn’t until after the area was officially established that oil was discovered, leading to a massive oil reserve development on the land.
